Made with frozen strawberries, this sweet and savory condiment can be easily made year-round.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons canola oil
  • 2 yellow onions, peeled, cut in half and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries, defrosted (including juice accumulated from defrosting)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Instructions

  1. In skillet over medium-low heat, saute’ onions in canola oil, stirring occasionally, until caramelized (about 20 minutes).
  2. In the meantime, mash defrosted strawberries with a fork.
  3. Add honey, vinegar, salt and red pepper to strawberries and stir to combine.
  4. Add strawberry mixture to caramelized onions and saute’ a few minutes more.
  5. Serve warm.
