Easy but Ethereal Ghosts in the Clouds

Print Recipe

Ghosts in the Clouds - Pic 1

Don’t you just love Peeps?  These ghost Peeps are so cute that I just had to find a way to use them.  Thus, my Ghosts in the Clouds recipe was born!

This recipe couldn’t be easier – just pre-made mini graham cracker pie crusts, instant pudding, Cool Whip and, of course, a Ghost Peep!  Voila’ – a super easy and cute dessert for your little ghosts during the Halloween season!

I’m all about quick and easy recipes (most of the time {grin}; I do have some very long and involved recipes on this site!) because I’m busy, too.  After all, this blog is called “Toot Sweet 4 Two” with “Toot Sweet”, American slang for the French “tout de suite”, which translates “all at once.”

So, my little Ghosts in the Cloud are rustically messy on purpose!

I just made the pudding and spooned it into the pie crusts and then dolloped each with Cool Whip.  But, if you’d like a “neater” version of my Ghosts in the Clouds, just put the pudding and Cool Whip into baggies, cut a tiny hole in one end and “pipe” the pudding into the mini pie crusts and follow that up by piping the Cool Whip on top of the pudding.

But, here’s the thing:  once you squish the Ghost Peep down into the Cool Whip, you’re gonna smush the Cool Whip “cloud” anyway, so why bother, is what I say! {grin}  They are too cute, anyway; smushed clouds and all!

Ghosts in the Clouds - Pic 4 - Halloween tablescape

I’ve been slowly decorating the house for Halloween.  I’ve gotten my Halloween decorations out of our storage area in the garage, unpacked them all and started placing them around the house.  Plus, I’ve bought a few new things this year. I’ve been slowly collecting new Halloween stuff for the past 4 years because we lost all of our Halloween decorations in a wildfire in 2007.  We moved back home to our new house in December 2008, so missed Halloween that year.  But since 2009, I’ve started rebuilding my Halloween collection.

Anyway, new this year is this sparkly black pumpkin and the adorable Halloween owl tea towel.  The small black-and-white bird appetizer plates aren’t “Halloween”, but the colors are, so I’m using them too.  The silver tray belonged to my aunt, so it’s a hand-me-down treasure.

The orange and black striped tablecloth is actually a cheap plastic one I bought this year. By the way, do any of you know how to get wrinkles out of a cheap plastic tablecloth?  If so, leave me a comment; I’d love to know your tips!

More photos on my decorating efforts to follow in the coming weeks, so stay tuned…

The black lace tablerunner is a new purchase.  It’s supposed to look like a spider web, although you can’t tell in these photos!  The gray metal tray is a new purchase this year, though not specifically for Halloween.  I liked the matted gray finish of this tray.  It’s a good surface for food photography (although it is not food safe), because it doesn’t reflect the light like a shiny silver tray does.  I think my Ghosts in the Clouds look great on this tray and 6 of them are the perfect amount for this tray.

I love that their little arms are outstretched over their heads as if to say “Boo!”  Plus, they have a cute little flip on top of their head to make them more ghostly-shaped.

Ghosts in the Clouds is such an easy dessert – perfect for a crowd or perfect for your family as a special dessert after dinner on Halloween night.

Here’s the recipe:

That is just too cute! I am in favor of no fuss recipes, and this one will definitely be bookmarked for later. I’ve never heard of Ghost Peeps. What are they made of?

What a cute idea. I think I’ll have my grandkids help me make them the day before Halloween and we can have them on Halloween after they all return from “trick or treating.”
I love that they are so easy the kids can help too. Which part of the grocery store has the ready made graham cracker mini cups?

In the baking aisle. They are hidden in my store on the bottom shelves! They are near the regular-sized pre-made graham cracker pie crusts. They are a perfect recipe to share with kids!

So cute. We are just the 2 of us every Halloween but if we ever get invited to a Halloween party, I’ll take this along. Happy Fall!

Thanks, Anna! We only have 5 trick-or-treaters every year, so we, too, miss out on the fun! I’m thinking about “crashing” Tiffany’s trick-or-treat outing with her girls…we’ll see!
