Ingredients

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix (I used a butter recipe yellow cake mix)
  • 1 cup of powdered (confections’) sugar
  • 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) butter, cut into small squares
  • 1/4 cup soy milk (you can use regular milk) and more as needed
  • Sprinkles of your choice of colors

Instructions

  1. Grease an 8″ x 8″ pan.
  2. Put cake mix in a microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Add powdered sugar and stir with fork to combine.
  4. Add butter chunks scattered around.
  5. Pour in milk, but don’t stir.
  6. Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
  7. Remove from microwave and immediately stir to combine ingredients.
  8. Add more milk by the 1/2 teaspoonfuls, if necessary.
  9. Add sprinkles, stirring gently so that sprinkles don’t melt and run their colors together.
  10. Pour batter into prepared 8″ x 8″ pan.
  11. Press with your fingers until batter covers the pan.
  12. Add more sprinkles to the top, if you want, and press into batter using the back of a wooden spoon.
  13. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  14. Cut into bars; note that batter is hard, so it is difficult to cut.
  15. Once cut, remove from pan with spatula (they remove easily.
