This is the first recipe that I have tried directly from a Pinterest pin. I decided it was time to quit pinning and time to start making some of the fabulous creations that I’ve pinned to my numerous Pinterest boards. BTW – there are 3 opportunities to follow us on Pinterest. I have my own personal Pinterest account as does Tiffany and Toot Sweet 4 Two has a Pinterest account. Check us out if you are a Pinterest lover!
Anyway, back to this recipe. I’ve adapted it from a recipe on the blog Baked from a Box and this is a link back to her original post. In her post, she shares that she’s adapted it from Girl Meets Life (here’s that link, too). In any case, fair warning, these bars are like eating straight cake batter! But, if you like cake batter, then you will love them! They are very, very sweet and very, very easy and no-bake. I made mine with red and white sprinkles to welcome in the holiday season, but they are very colorful with multi-colored sprinkles and could be made for other special occasions by just changing the color of the sprinkles.
If you link back to their recipes, you will see that my recipe isn’t EXACTLY the same as their recipes. That’s because I can’t seem to READ recipes anymore {sigh; must be something going on in my “toot sweet” life and I can’t seem to concentrate and read a recipe and interpret it the RIGHT WAY!}. In fact, I’m so clueless that I didn’t even realize I’d made them WRONG until I was writing this post {I’m laughing insanely right now; you are going to have to ship me off to the loony bin!}. In any case, mine turned out tasty, too, so I guess that goes to prove that you can’t ruin a recipe {much} that you are making from a box of cake mix! So, if you want to make your version the RIGHT WAY, I suggest you link back to these two other bloggers’ sites and try theirs.
- Gather your ingredients for Cake Batter Fudge Bars.
- Cut your butter into small cubes.
- Pour your cake mix into a bowl. This is the FIRST thing I did wrong – I used the ENTIRE box of cake mix instead of the 1 cup she calls for in her recipe! Also at this point, you add 1 cup of powdered sugar and mix it with a fork.
- Scatter the butter cubes in the cake mix.
- Add milk; I used vanilla soy milk, but you can use regular milk. Don’t stir. Microwave for 2 minutes.
- This is what mine looked like after microwaving and as I started mixing it. I thought to myself “this can’t be right” (it wasn’t) and added more milk.
- This is what mine looked like after stirring together and adding more milk. The batter was very thick.
- Add sprinkles to batter and mix carefully to combine. Put Cake Batter Fudge in greased 8″ x 8″ pan. I used my Misto to grease the pan.
- Spread batter around pan. I used my fingers because my batter was very thick!
- I decided that you couldn’t see my sprinkles, so I added more to the top! I pushed them into the batter to secure them in place by using the back of a wooden spoon. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Finished Cake Batter Fudge Bars. Cut into squares. I cut them into 16 squares, but they are so sweet that you could make them even smaller!
Close-up of Cake Batter Fudge Bars – please note: mine were difficult to cut. It took a lot of effort, so be careful! However, once cut, they came out of the pan with no difficulty.
