The flavors of bacon and onions turn plain green beans into an amazing side dish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of frozen green beans
  • 1/2 pound of bacon
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook bacon according to package directions.
  2. Remove bacon and set aside.
  3. Add chopped onion to the skillet and saute in the bacon grease until soft and translucent.
  4. Remove onions and place on a paper towel to absorb excess grease.
  5. Drain remaining grease from skillet.
  6. Add green beans to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.
  7. Meanwhile, cut or crumble the cooked bacon.
  8. Add bacon and onion to the green beans in the skillet.
  9. Sprinkle with salt and pepper (optional).
  10. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Notes

To make this meal healthier, substitute bacon for turkey bacon and saute in extra virgin olive oil.
