I have news: What Charlie Read, my monthly series about the books my husband is reading, is retiring. Officially retired. Yep. This is the last post in this series. 🙁
You may have noticed that I “retired” another series on this blog, too. Exactly a week ago, I retired Saving Mr. Lincoln, my monthly series about saving $5 bills that I receive as change from a purchase or as a gift.
I enjoy doing both series. Really, I do. Really. {grin}
But, the reality of the situation is that I just don’t have enough days in the week to post and share everything that I want to post and share, so something has to give. We have, somewhat, of a posting schedule on our blog. If you haven’t figured that out, or if you are a new reader to our blog, here’s our Posting Schedule, also known in the blog world as our Editorial Calendar (please note that this schedule is subject to change, but we do try our very best to keep to it! {grin}):
- Sunday – Motivational Quote and an awesome photo or graphic
- Monday – some kind of article
- Tuesday – recipe
- Wednesday – some kind of article
- Thursday – recipe
- Friday – list (my list of 42)
- Saturday – some kind of article
While this may seem like enough time in a week to say what I want to say and share what I want to share, it’s not. It’s not because I have other series, as well, AND I have a blogging partner, Tiffany, and she wants to make an appearance, too!
The other two series I am currently running on our blog (and I’m not retiring them – yet) are:
- The Incredible Shrinking Woman – my monthly post about my weight loss journey
- Resolve to Be Ready 2014 – my emergency planning and preparedness series that I started last month
With 4 monthly series running on the blog, that only left me one day a week to post something of my choosing! And, one day a week just isn’t enough for me because I’m a blogging piggy!
You see, I love our blog; I love sharing with our readership, I love creating new content, I love discovering new things that I want to share, I love the photography part of it (even though I’m still learning that part and there’s lots of room for improvement!)! I love it all!
And, I have lots of stuff waiting in the wings to share with you:
- places I’ve visited with awesome photos (Sweet Spot)
- funny little stories that I’ve started and not finished (Sweet Nothings)
- decorating, crafting and tablescapes (Sweet Ideas)
- people and companies that inspire me (Sweet On)
- gardening, green living and elder care posts I want to share (Sweet Home)
- oodles of recipes and things about cooking (Sweet Eats)
- stories about Coco, my cat (Sweet Life – I want to make him famous like Grumpy Cat, but Coco doesn’t do anything worthwhile; in fact, he does absolutely nothing at all!)
- and just any little thing that inspires me (Sweet Things).
So, what’s a blogger to do?
Unless I start posting multiple things a day, I have to let some things go. So, Charlie gets the boot! Fortunately, Charlie loves me and he’s okay with this decision.
And, since this post is already long enough, I’m not actually going to review each of the books he has read since my last review of What Charlie Read in November 2013 (can you believe I haven’t posted What Charlie Read since December? Trust me; Charlie didn’t quit reading – I just quit writing about it!).
Instead, I’m just giving you a list:
Charlie’s read 14 books since the end of November. The above four were his favorites:
- Bull River by Robert Knott on behalf of Robert B. Parker
- Standup Guy by Stuart Woods
- Trouble in Paradise by Robert B. Parker
- There Will Be No Second Chance by Harlan Coben
Here are the rest:
- Black Fridays by Michael Sears
- Close Combat by W.E.B. Griffin
- Fifteen Minutes by Karen Kingsbury
- Shock Wave by John Sandford
- Q is for Quarry by Sue Grafton
- King and Maxwell by David Baldacci
- The Duck Commander Family by Willie and Korie Robertson (yes; he loves that show!)
- The Nightingale Legacy by Catherine Coulter
- The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks
Plus, he read this non-fiction one, written by Toot Sweet 4 Two’s tax advisor and he thought it was great (5 butterflies):
I was inspired to write an unsolicited review of Outsmarting the System because I read this book, too (imagine that – I read a book!), and thought it was truly excellent and wanted to share (you know me – always sharing! {grin}).
So, as What Charlie Read Retires and sails into the sunset behind Saving Mr. Lincoln’s Retirement, keep visiting us on a regular basis so that you don’t miss what’s in store! Better yet, subscribe to us via email or RSS and follow us on any of these social networks:
