Princess P lost her first tooth! How exciting for a five-year old!
One morning Princess P woke up and her tooth was gone! She was a bit groggy and convinced that the tooth had fallen somewhere on her bedroom floor or in her bed. I had a feeling that the tooth had been swallowed in her sleep. I was very concerned, she has been so excited about this tooth coming out so the Tooth Fairy would come.
It can be quite difficult to think quick early in the morning before the sun is up and before a cup of coffee, but somehow my super-mom powers kicked in! I was able to make sure my girl still believed in the magic of the Tooth Fairy.
While Princess P was scouring her room looking for the tooth, I made a mad dash to the kitchen, remembering that I had put some cash on the counter the night before. I quickly grabbed the first bill I saw and went back to her room. I very nonchalantly sat down on her bed and stuffed the money under her pillow and said “Are you sure you checked your bed really good?” With one last search in the bed the Princess P had found her treasure! “Wow!” I said, “That Tooth Fairy sure works fast! She knew you lost that tooth while you were sleeping and managed to swoop it up already!” I must say that was a proud “mom-saves-the-day” moment for me!
While away on our recent vacation Princess P discovered that she had another loose tooth! Each day it became looser! This tooth was not going to wait until we were home!
Our last night at Grandma and Grandpa’s, Princess P woke me up around 2am because she had a bad dream. She started tugging at her tooth while full of nervous energy, telling me about her dream.
Out came that tooth!
2am and I had to find a safe place for this tooth so it could come home with us the following day. I stumbled into the kitchen, got a zip-lock baggie and placed it on the nightstand to be packed in the morning.
Upon arriving home, we were all too tired to give the tooth fairy a second thought. The next day, however the panic set in. As I was unpacking I realized that I had NO IDEA where the tooth was. I had unpacked and emptied ALL the ziplock baggies.
Throughout the day Princess P had expressed her excitement that the tooth fairy would come again! (Shoot…what to do??)
I text my BFF in a panic! She has a boy who is seven months older than Princess P. He had recently lost his tooth. YES…I asked and I BORROWED his tooth! MOM FAIL…TOOTH FAIRY FAIL! Oh, My, Gosh…
Thank goodness for the innocence and trust in my little Princess P. She never questioned it for a second, even though she knew I was looking for the tooth while unpacking.
Motherhood…it’s quite the adventure! Have you had any similar tales or fails?

Ha ha awe the adventures of the tooth fairy. Dylan swallowed his first tooth and was so concerned about not having a tooth to put under his pillow for the fairy. So he and I wrote the tooth fairy a nice letter signed by Dylan with love. She was very understanding about it and he awoke with utter excitement to wake up and find money. He’s lost many now, and almost all if them have a hilarious story behind them. I love every moment 🙂 Love you Cuz. Keep on doing what you’re doing.
Thanks Melissa! Isn’t it funny that each tooth seems to bring a new story or adventure?? Oh, the fun we get to experience through these little ones! Love you!
It is true what we can come up with to keep the magic going for our kids. Major kudos on the quick thinking so early lol. Ahhhh been there… 😉
Thanks Melissa!
You are pretty clever. One of mine lost one that was swallowed and we had to write the tooth fairy a note telling her that it was an accident and we hoped she would trust that we were telling the truth. That kind tooth fairy came and left her treasure. She’s a great fairy!
She sure is a great fairy! I was really shocked that I was able to think of something so quickly, I’m not usually that alert first thing in the morning!
