Confession: most of the photos in this post are a year old! Funny how that happens…you take photos and intend to do something special with them – put them on your blog {grin}, make a scrapbook, make a photo book through Shutterfly or something – and, suddenly, a year has passed!
Since I got my new fancy, dancy camera for Christmas in 2012, I’ve been a picture-taking fool. I have, literally, thousands and thousands of pictures. And while I love taking the pictures and learning photography, it does have its downsize, i.e., you can end up with so many photos that:
- managing them becomes a problem
- culling through them to delete ones that aren’t really that good becomes a problem
- editing the good ones to use in some way becomes a problem because you have so many that it’s hard to choose!
Such a dilemma {grin}!
These two girls, my great-nieces, Princess P (on the left) and Princess Sweetie Pie (on the right) started back to school last week. Suddenly, summer is over!
So, this time LAST summer, we were having a family birthday party at the Hamburger Factory in the town of Poway. I don’t live in Poway (I live about 10 miles away) and I’m sure I’ve mentioned that before, but I love the town of Poway. They have so many parts of Poway that are so quaint and beautiful and Old Poway Park is just that – quaint and beautiful.
With a train depot (and a train that runs periodically – you have to check the schedule online) in the center of Old Poway Park…
they also have a tree-lined large picnic area, a gazebo, restored homes from the era, a train museum, a creek with ducks…
birdhouses everywhere…
a Templars Hall that can be rented out for parties and weddings…
gorgeous flowers blooming everywhere…
a large fountain that takes center stage with a windmill nearby…
it’s the perfect place for a family photo-op! This is Princess Sweetie Pie playing in the fountain.
So, our photo-op started at the gazebo with Gail (their grandmother and my sister), Princess Sweetie Pie and Princess P. Already, Princess Sweetie Pie was not cooperating!
Time for a big sister talk! Princess P attempts negotiations with Princess Sweetie Pie. Off to another part of the park for a photo shoot – here’s what happened:
How is it that one child can hijack a photo shoot? Funny how that works…
P.S. On second thought, Christmas is right around the corner (egads!) and this is the perfect series of photos to make into a photo book on Shutterfly! Shhhh…don’t tell Tiffany; it’s a surprise!

I don’t think she hijack it at all. All the photos are beautiful even if she didn’t have a big “colgate smile” as my mom would say. I like the realistic phots as much as the posed ones. They’re both beautiful girls just as they are.

Thanks, Anna. I agree with everything you said – they are beautiful, loving, sweet and amazing and I’m lucky to have them in my life!
very adorable…little P sure has a stubborn personality; like my granddaughter.
Yes; indeed! Funny how they wrap themselves around our hearts even when petulant!
