Have you ever made cranberry sauce from scratch? It’s so easy! Sour Apple Cranberry Sauce is just one small step more in the process and brightens up traditional cranberry sauce with an ever so subtle tang. So delicious and refreshing – a nice change for your holiday table!
Here’s a funny story to share about how this recipe came to be:
Tiffany and I were fortunate enough to spend 3 days at a blogging conference last May. We went to the Mom 2.0 Summit 2013 at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. You can catch up on that little adventure by clicking on the links to the posts below:

I love going to these conferences. They are so inspiring! Teaming with strong, capable, smart women, all looking forward to spending time with YOU! Plus, the conference sessions are full of knowledgeable women (and men), willing to share their know-how on a variety of topics. We’d go to more if we could afford it {grin}! Alas, they are pricey with travel, hotel and conference tickets, so we’ve only been able to attend 2 thus far.
Anyway, at the Mom 2.0 Summit in Laguna Niguel, they had booths set-up for a variety of vendors. One was Tree Top. I went back to that booth multiple times. Several times. Over-and-over again. Why? Because their reps were whipping up marvelous concoctions with Tree Top Apple Juices and muddling a variety of herbs and spices. So delicious! So refreshing!
Anyway, after the conference, a box arrived from Tree Top. Somehow, this box never made it inside my house, but sat in the garage in a dark corner (in other words, when it was delivered, I wasn’t home and Charlie forgot to bring it inside!).
The other day while looking around the garage for holiday decorations, I came across this box! I opened it up and, surprise! There was a stash of goodies from the Tree Top Team – two Tree Top mason jars, a bottle of Tree Top Reduced Sugar Apple Juice, a bottle of Tree Top 3 Apple Blend Fresh Pressed Juice, recipe cards and other useful flyers!
Note: this is NOT a sponsored post. I just wanted to reach out to Tree Top to thank them and to create a recipe using one of their products! So, thank you Tree Top Team! So sorry for the late acknowledgement of your wonderful gift!
So, here’s what you do to make Sour Apple Cranberry Sauce:

- Place pot on the stove and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add the cranberries.
- Add the apples.
- Stir to combine.
- Bring to a boil again, reduce heat and boil gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and transfer sauce to a glass bowl, cover and allow to cool completely at room temperature. Once cool, refrigerate until ready to serve.
