Have you ever had a pen pal? I haven’t, but I always wished for one when I was growing up. Well, now I’m all grown up and we have a ton more technology than when I was a kid. We hardly ever physically write letters that get sent in the mail anymore. E-mail and text messaging have made this thoughtful task a little too time consuming.
There is just something about getting a letter, card or special something in the mail that is so exciting, possibly more now than ever since it’s less common than it once was.
Well guess what?? This grown up girl has herself a real pen pal!
As I wrote in my Cincinnati Chili post yesterday, our nephew and his girlfriend were here last week visiting. As much as I love my nephew, who is a grown twenty-something man, I love him even more for having such an amazing young woman for a girlfriend!
So, thank you Justin for the gift of an amazing friendship with Sam and for my first real pen pal!
Sam and I decided that we would become pen pals while she was staying with us. We thought it would be fun for the Princesses P to be able to send and receive mail and experience the excitement that I mentioned.
After her departure we have been text messaging each other quite a bit and we both confessed that being pen pals was more for us than for the girls. (At least we are both on the same page with this)!
I’m excited to hand write my first pen pal a letter, send a card or some other small surprise. I will be sure to have the princesses involved too, as this will be a gift for them as well!

Hi Trish. I understand the excitememnt of getting mail that is personal rather than bills and other junk we put right in the recycle bin. I hope you get a bunch of personal mail that you can enjoy on your upcoming birthday!
