One Year Ago Today – 2 More Posts in 2 Different Categories: Many a Winding Turn and The Casa Bella Swedish Pancake Factory. My mother was in the hospital in critical condition in a non-responsive state. They didn’t expect her to make it.
We had just launched the blog 12 days earlier, and all of a sudden, life interfered. In my despair, I wrote Many a Winding Turn. As I wrote the post, her condition was yet to be diagnosed; all they knew was that she had a severe infection, but had yet to find the cause.
The Sunday before, I made a massive amount of Swedish pancakes for the post, The Casa Bella Swedish Pancake Factory and had already scheduled that post to launch (yes, you can create posts ahead of time and schedule them to launch on specific dates! How cool is that!).
We joking call our house Casa Bella. We have a gated driveway and the gate has a large “CB” in the center of it. People assume that it stands for either Carole or Charlie and our last name (which starts with a B) or both of us. In reality, the “CB” belonged to Charlie’s father, Carl, and it survived the fire because it was iron. We had it added as a part of our gate as a constant reminder of his father and the fire.
People ask us all the time, “does that stand for Charlie B?”
“No,” we reply. “It’s Casa Bella – the name of our house!” No need to go into a long explanation as I just did above. {grin}
