The pugs are and always will be my first babies. Ten years ago these precious boys came into this world. Little did I know that the day I spontaneously decided it was time to have a pug (not that it was necessarily the right time) that I would bring home two and they would start our little family.
Chris agreed that we could get “a” dog (as in one dog). My girlfriend and I searched newspapers and local ads, calling everyone in our area about pug puppies (I wanted a fawn-colored one). Every one of the dog breeders I called had sold all of their puppies! Little did I know that pugs were the “hot” dog of the current dog market (no pun intended).
Desperate, we went to the pet store at the mall only to find a darling pug that cost about three times more than I had thought a pup would cost. I made one more desperate phone call, even though they only had black pug puppies. Before I knew it we were on our way. My curiosity peaked, as I had no idea there was even such a thing as a black pug! When we walked in the door, there were only two puppies left. I was in love and heart-broken at the same time. How could I separate these precious brothers? So, off to the ATM I went to do a cash advance on my credit card! These adorable puppies I just could not live without!
With two little pugs in tow, we were off to the pet store, where Chris met us for a big surprise – he only expected one! He, too, fell in love instantly and another couple hundred dollars later, we took them home for many sleepless and messy nights ahead – preparation for our future human babies!
Sid and Samson quickly became the center of our universe, providing us with unconditional love that only a pet can offer. Every morning started with cuddles, snorts and walks. We took them with us everywhere we could and planned weekend activities around things that we could do with “the boys”.
From the moment I became pregnant with the first Princess P, the boys seemed to know and became more protective and loving to me than ever before. After our baby girl arrived, they were in love with her right along with us. They slept under her bassinet and perched over the side to get a peek and check on her.
It has been an amazing ten years with these “babies”; I look forward to many more years of love from them. They have been the best credit card purchase I’ve ever made – my “Men in Black”.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already! Now that you have two little Princesses I bet taking care of the men in black was a breeze compared to your darling girls. Sid & Samson are such a huge part of your family.

Cute story about your first babies. They’re pretty cute, especially looking into the bassinet.
