I sat, waiting. I was at “The Little Clinic“, a walk-in medical clinic located inside a giant grocery super store in Ohio. Since we arrived for our vacation to visit my in-laws, I have felt “under the weather”. We had planned a little road trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee in a couple of days and I DID NOT want to miss that!
My plan was to head over to the clinic first thing so there would be no wait, I could get some medicine and be ready to get over to the park for a Family Reunion Picnic. Ha! There were other plans in the universe for me!
As I was walking out the front door to hop in the gorgeous, yet giant Escalade that Chris’ aunt let us borrow, Princess Sweetie Pie was at my heels having a fit. She had to have her Barbie that was in her car seat! I unlocked the car, started the engine to warm her up since it was chilly overnight. I walked over to the other side to retrieve the requested Barbie.
The door was locked. Okay, no biggie, my car is the same way; only the driver door unlocks unless you press unlock more than once on the remote. So I walked back to the driver’s side to unlock the rest of the car. Uh-oh! That door was locked too!! The whole darn car was locked, the engine was running with my purse and phone sitting on the seat being held prisoner! I stood there for a second staring at the gigantic gas-guzzling beauty that was “warming-up” thinking…Just My Luck!
As if getting sick on vacation isn’t enough!! Now I had to walk back into the house with my head hung low in embarrassment to ask my father-in-law for help. Thankfully he is one of the kindest, most patient men I have ever met. He told me not to worry, no-big deal and grabbed the keys to his car and told me he would take me to the clinic then head over to his sister’s house to get the spare keys.
After waiting for over an hour, I was finally seen at The Little Clinic. The doctor was very friendly and informed me that there is a lot of Ragweed now and then said with a smile “Welcome to Cincinnati”! I’m thinking, “What the heck is Ragweed”?? Well apparently it is a plant that is generally considered the greatest allergen of all pollens. I have never suffered from allergies in my life, but this Ragweed got me good! I am so relieved to report that I am not sick and after a day of being on allergy medication I’m feeling almost like myself again!

I’m glad you figured it out early in your visit so you could enjoy the rest of your time there. Have fun.

Oh me too! I can’t believe the impact allergies can have! It’s amazing, we are back home and I already can tell a difference!
