We all awoke this morning to the news coverage of Hurricane Sandy, classified as a “super storm”, blasting the East Coast from Washington to New England. Already eight states have declared States of Emergency and millions are under evacuation orders. The mass transit systems that ferry 10’s of millions of daily commuters to their jobs in New York City and New Jersey have shut down. Air travel between the East Coast and our neighbors across the pond is also at a grinding halt. And, the governors of New York and New Jersey are encouraging people to stay off the streets and stay home (unless asked to evacuate to higher ground). Our East Coast is expecting power outages that could last for days.
And, no one is yet talking about recovery.
My heart goes out to our family and neighbors on the East Coast as they face this storm. I encourage all under evacuation orders to take heed. Nothing is worth your life or the lives of your loved ones.
Until Next Time,
