Day 93
I’m a coffee fiend! That’s my hot stuff beverage of choice. I think I’m on my fourth cuppa joe this morning (or maybe it’s five!). I’m not a morning person and I stagger out of bed every morning in a fog of misery (I love my bed…I love sleep…zzzz) in search of my java buzz.
What is it about coffee that brings such pleasure to our morning routine, provides a satisfying afternoon break and has become a required accompaniment to our dinner’s dessert? And, why have coffee houses become popular destinations across the country? Well, besides the enticing aroma, Americans are just in love with their coffee! The hot liquid hits your tongue first providing your brain with a sense of warmth and it follows through to your throat rendering black gold perfection from a cup! I think I’ll go get another cup…
I stop drinking coffee before noon. Unfortunately for me, the insomnia monsters sneak in and I’m up all night if I don’t! I used to savor it all day, just like I described above – breakfast, afternoon snack, and dinner dessert. But, I’m a reformed coffee-holic.
My husband makes the coffee for us. He’s up in the morning before me (5:30 a.m. our crazy, maniac cat, Coco, starts yowling and caterwauling! No need for an alarm clock in our house!), so bless his heart, he always makes it and most times brings it to me (so I’m a little spoiled!). Tomorrow, I’m going to ask him to make a half pot of coffee {maybe}. Then, after I’ve had two cups, I’ll switch to green tea {maybe}. Once I’m satisfied that I’m fully awake because of all this hot stuff, I’ll switch to water.
He’s given me a headache…I need more coffee…
Here’s are some close-ups of pretty things…
I got this adorable cookie jar at Home Goods about 4 years ago. It stores all of my coffee stuff – sugar packets, artificial sugar packets and creamer packets. So, guests can have their choice of a lot of options! I drink my coffee black, but this sunny yellow canister makes me smile.
I think I got this cute creamer and sugar bowl from Target years ago. Love that they both look like little cartons!
Here’s the weight loss update:
This month I lost 7 pounds for a total of 21! My new weight – 242! I’m thrilled at this ongoing downward trend and my motivation is strong!
And, I created a few more new recipes on the lighter side (pick your “poison” – these recipes are either lower salt, lower sugar, lower fat, lower calories or all) and here are links:
Tip of the Month:
Brush your teeth after you eat; every time! You don’t want to have coffee breath! There is something about clean teeth that makes you less likely to eat again; at least not right away. Also, your teeth and gums will thank you and your dentist, too!
Do you have any weight loss tips to share? I’m compiling a list for a future post, so please share!
