I got my first email the other day announcing Halloween! Did this retailer miss that it is only the first week of August? Talk about “rushing” the holiday rush!
Then, in the mail yesterday, I got a retail catalog and on their back inside cover page was Santa Claus and holiday stockings! Arrgh!
It is 98 degrees today. On what planet does that equal the onset of fall?
Don’t get me wrong – I love the holidays. But, can’t I enjoy the stinking hot dog days of summer first? When it’s close to 100 degrees outside, I just can’t wrap my head around ghost, goblins, witches and bats, much less Santa Claus.
I have a niece and a nephew who both work retail, so I understand the retailers’ mind-set of squeezing every dollar out of the consumer that they can wrangle, using every marketing ploy and technique known to man. But, I don’t want the holidays to arrive too fast, because that means another year is coming to a close and another year has gone by in a flash with much left undone and many New Year’s resolutions unfinished or not even started!
Well, I guess I just need to get on-board the holiday train, put on my tennis shoes and head for the mall! Don’t want to miss any of those pre-holiday sales!
So,
Happy Halloween
Happy Thanksgiving
Merry Christmas
Oh, and happy shopping!

I get annoyed when it’s all “put up” too early too. It seems to get earlier and earlier each year. I want to enjoy “back to school” and fall breezes before Halloween arrives. Sorry, no money for sales until I get paid again.
