Hawaiian Island Paradise Honeymoon Waffles

Print Recipe

On Monday Chris and I will be celebrating our seven years of happy marriage!  In honor of this milestone, I wanted to share one of our favorite special breakfasts…Hawaiian Honeymoon Waffles.

I’m sure you can guess that we enjoyed our honeymoon in Hawaii.  It was one full week of paradise and newlywed bliss.  Oh, what I would give for a week there now!

We stayed at  Hanalei Bay Resort in Kauai, Hawaii.  It was amazing and so was the food!  Once I had tried the waffles for breakfast, there wasn’t another breakfast item that stood a chance on that menu!  They would even bring them to our room if we didn’t want to make the trip to the restaurant!

Imagine this:  a large, hot fluffy, golden waffle topped with fresh banana slices, whipped cream, coconut syrup and macadamia nuts…a flavor explosion of joy for the taste buds!

When we returned home, I was retelling stories of our trip to my parents.  Of course I was raving about the waffles over and over!  This is how they got the name Hawaiian Honeymoon Waffles.

Thankfully I have been able to recreate them and they are a special treat for us that bring back wonderful memories!

Here is the recipe, I hope you love it as much as I do!

If you don’t have any coconut syrup, I highly recommend buying some in Shop Toot Sweet to get the authentic syrup that is right from Hawaii.

    Tiff,
Mom was reading me the blog while driving home starving from Natalye’s performance last night. What a great day to see your family at the park and then the other kids at Poway….. but I digress. Your story brings back great memories and the longing to get back to Kauai for more waffles.
    Love Dad
