Today I will be happier than a bird with a French fry!
Don’t you just love this quote? I wish I knew who “said it first” so that I could give them credit for saying it. But, alas, I’ve never heard this quote before I saw it on this sign. It’s a great reminder to all of us that we have an opportunity to choose our outcomes in life on a day-to-day basis, by letting go of negativity and living in the moment.
This roughed-up painted sign was in the gift store at a favorite destination in San Diego County, Summers Past Farm. I would have snapped it up in a heartbeat, but I had nowhere to hang it in my house (or even my garage). So, I settled for taking a photo of it so that I could remember it and share it on this blog.
In this photo, you’ll see the fingers of the adorable Princess P, my great-niece, who patiently held the sign up while I snapped away. We were at the annual Fairy Days festival at Summers Past Farm last year and I never got around to sharing that special day with readers. But, I’ve shared previous Fairy Days posts with readers and you can find them here:
How Do Fairies Get Their Wings?
Plus a few recipes for a special fairy picnic:
- Mini Cinnamon Muffin Melts
- Pink Fairy Turkey Roll-ups
- Creamy Petite Pea Salad with Bacon and Cashews in Tomato Cups
And here are a few pictures from our most recent visit to the Fairy Days festival:

So what do fairies have to do with birds eating French fries? Well, nothing really. Except fairies have wings like birds and fairies eat French fries (at least the fairies I know eat French fries!). Here are some hungry baby birds on my bedroom stoop. They’re probably too young for French fries…
