Ghosts, Goblins and Ghouls: 42 Frighteningly Unearthly Creatures That Haunt Halloween

I rounded up 42 Halloween words, focusing on ghosts, goblins, and ghouls, and made a couple of free printable Halloween word scramble games just for you!  I’ve never made a word scramble before and thought I’d give it a whirl for Halloween.

But, even though my 42 Frighteningly Unearthly Creatures That Haunt Halloween Word Scramble is fun, it’s a tad bit difficult.  Since it took my husband, Charlie, awhile to do this game (I didn’t time him so don’t know exactly how long), I decided to make an easier, kid-friendly version too!  So you get two different word scramble games chockful of Halloween words for the price of one – FREE!

Plus, if you subscribe to my newsletter, you can get a free downloadable eBook that I created and named “Halloween Activity Book:  31 Games, Puzzles, and Coloring Pages for hours of fun!”

My Two Lists of Halloween Words Made into a Word Scramble for You!

Here’s my original batch of Halloween words that I made into a word scramble that turned out to be a bit of a challenge (so, in other words, better for adults):

And here’s the link to download these free Halloween words for you to use at your Halloween party:  Halloween Word Scramble Game printable.

My husband tells me that I’ve used 3 of the words twice in this word scramble.  I assure you that it was unintentional.  Here’s my suggestion: make this a “timed” game at your party – say 15 minutes.  And, whoever gets all 42 before the end of the 15 minute time period is the clear winner.  If no one gets all the words in the 15 minute time period, the winner is the one who has found most of the Halloween words.  Use the 3 words that are in there twice as a tie-breaker.

If you want to have a “key” on hand for your party, do this word scramble yourself before your guests arrive and have it on hand (of course, hidden from view), if needed.

Here’s the “kid-friendly” version of Halloween words to unscramble:

And here’s the link to download this free printable version:  Halloween Word Scramble for Kids printable.

I will tell you that even though I call this version “kid-friendly” AND the words are in orange, my almost 5-year-old great-niece (Princess Sweetie Pie) could not do this.  But, she circled some words, raised both hands in the air, and with the biggest jack-o-lantern grin shouted, “I’m finished!  I won!!!”  We all burst out laughing!  Then she decided to color while the rest of us worked on our word scrambles!

Also, her 7-year-old big sister (Princess P) needed help and I helped her.  So, this version is challenging, too.

After our Halloween brunch party, we went to the local pumpkin patch!  I forgot to take my correct camera lens with me, so didn’t take many photos this year.  But, I took some pretty fabulous photos last year and they are all here on this blog!  If you’d like a “blast from the past”, check out these posts from our pumpkin patch adventures last year:

Here are a few photos “from the farm” this year.  My how the girls have grown!

The Princesses running thru the straw maze

And they’re off!  Princess P and Princess Sweetie Pie running through the straw maze! Bates Nut Farm does an elaborate straw maze.  They give the children an orange card with numbered boxes on it.  The object is for the children to find the mailboxes hidden in the straw maze.  Each mailbox has a Halloween stamp and stamp pad with ink inside the mailbox.  The mailboxes are numbered and the children find the mailbox, reach in to get the stamp, and then stamp the appropriate box on their orange card.  The kids love it and want to do it every year!

They found one!  From left to right:  Ali (Samantha’s friend), Princess Sweetie Pie (in pink), Princess P (black hat), Tiffany (yellow shirt), Samantha (with her cute dog, Koda).

Hope you enjoy my Halloween word scrambles, both the adult version and the kid-friendly version, that I’ve named “Ghosts, Goblins, and Ghouls: 42 Frighteningly Unearthly Creatures That Haunt Halloween!”  By the way, both of these word scrambles are included in my free (to subscribers) printable eBook that I’ve titled “Halloween Activity Book:  31 Games, Puzzles, and Coloring Pages for hours of fun!”
