Don’t you just love a deal? These Halloween Gourmet Milk Chocolate Pops were a steal in my local grocery store. I found them in the floral section, in a vase very similar to this one in the photo, marked down 50% because it’s so close to Halloween!
They are really large (about 4 inches tall by 3 to 5 inches, depending on the whether it’s the pumpkin, ghost or bat), beautifully made chocolate wrapped in cellophane and tied with satin bows. And, they are mounted not on popsicle sticks but on long 11-inch wooden stakes!
Although they weren’t staked into plants in the store, I’m sure that’s what they were meant for, especially since they were in the floral section and on wooden stakes! They were so cute and a bargain at a $1.00 a piece that I couldn’t resist them. Even at $2.00 a piece, they are still a great deal!
I was at the grocery store picking up a few last minute things for a small family pre-Halloween brunch gathering we had yesterday and I thought they’d be great festive party favors. After all, who doesn’t like chocolate? But because they were on long wooden stakes, I didn’t want to place them on everyone’s place setting because (1) they wouldn’t fit and (2) I didn’t want the young ones to wield them around like swords and either break them into a thousand pieces or poke someone’s eye out {grin}!
But, here’s the thing: because I put them on the serving table in a vase, everyone thought they were part of the decorations and not something especially for them!
Next time I need to make a sign that says “take one” or “eat me”!
In the end, Tiffany delivered the ones that got left behind – thanks, Tiff!
So, my point in sharing my mini-fiasco is look for great deals in places other than the obvious for creative party favors. But, if you have to display them rather than place them at each person’s place setting, don’t forget to either tell your guests to be sure to take one OR make a sign!
Otherwise, you’ll be left with more Halloween Gourmet Milk Chocolate Pops than any one person deserves! Even if they are adorable.
