Want to make the perfect Grilled London Broil? Then you need to do two things: marinate it for several hours and grill it! Whether you grill it on an outdoor grill or an indoor grill pan or insert that fits on your stovetop doesn’t really matter. So why not enjoy perfect London broil any time of year?
I know it’s a little late for barbecue season, but the weather is so nice in our part of the country (it’s 102 as I write this in my part of San Diego). So, in spite of the fact that it isn’t summer any longer, I thought we should re-christen our outdoor grill! What better way than an easy Grilled London Broil?
Marinated in my Easy Red Wine Marinade for Beef, this main dish is simple and delicious and ready in a flash for 2 hungry people (me and Charlie), with leftovers for later! Or, it would easily serve four to six!
Want to make the perfect London broil aka flank steak? The key to a flavorful and juicy Grilled London Broil is to marinate it 4 to 6 hours. Click To Tweet
Start with the marinade. My Easy Red Wine Marinade for Beef is infused with smashed garlic, fresh rosemary, black peppercorns, plus more flavorful ingredients, and, of course, red wine! Pour it all over your London broil and refrigerate it for 4 to 6 hours. Then, remove it from the refrigerator for 30 minutes before placing it on a pre-heated grill, indoors or outdoors! I found this comparison of portable grills by Globo Surf extremely helpful when I bought one.
So, how long do you cook London Broil on the grill? Grill it over high heat for 5 to 6 minutes and then flip it over. Cook it for another 5 to 6 minutes for medium-rare – perfectly grilled flank steak!
Remove it from the grill, cover it with aluminum foil, and allow it to rest for 5 minutes. Do you know how to slice London Broil? Slice it against the grain into moderate slices (about a quarter-inch thick). This technique makes every bite tender and delicious!
We served it with grilled zucchini and crusty French bread. Yum! Plus, we have plenty of leftovers for other meals.
While this Grilled London Broil recipe is easy, it is not something you can make at the last minute. Because London Broil, aka flank steak, is a tougher cut of meat, the key to this flavorful, delicious, juicy, and tender main course is marinating it for a minimum of 4 hours.
Whether it’s spring, summer, fall or winter, you can enjoy London broil any time of year!

Hi I was wondering how much of the red wine do you use for marinating? Thanks
Hi, Angelica! Great question! I use the entire amount in the recipe, Easy Red Wine Marinade for Beef, when marinating a London Broil. Hope you like it!

Thank you for this recipe. I grill London Broil often, but it seems it’s hit or miss on how rare or well done I get it. Now I have a guide using your method. I like to marinate in French’s Extra Tenderizing Worcestershire Sauce.
