I always have good ideas after a holiday is over. Does that ever happen to you? In my “toot sweet” life, it happens to me all the time. Just when my head is about to surface from underwater, the holiday has passed and the opportunity to do something special is now an after thought. Well, my Easy Shamrocks and Leprechaun Centerpiece almost didn’t happen because, guess what? Today is the day before St. Patrick’s Day and it’s half over!
What prompted me to put this last minute masterpiece together? Well, I’d pulled out my St. Patrick’s Day decorations from storage last week, because last Saturday I was in the middle of The Leprechaun Cake Wreck Caper and trying to salvage a cake I had committed to bring to a birthday party for one of my sisters. Not wanting to disappoint, because I didn’t have a back-up plan, I used Leprechaun and Shamrocks picks that I’d collected from past holidays.
How could I use these cute picks as decorations for our house and not go out and spend money? I looked around and found this darling moss basket already embellished with faux flowers and a ribbon. It lives in my laundry room (not in the cupboards!) as a decoration to brighten a very dark room. And, it makes me smile.
How perfect! The little moss basket is woodsy and reminiscent of fairies and leprechauns, so how easy and cheap – no money spent!
Here’s a collage of close-ups of this very cute basket:
Then, I chose the Leprechaun pick I wanted to use and inserted him into the foam already in the basket.
Suddenly, my leprechaun helper appeared! He’d shape-shifted into a cat, a boy cat named Coco!
I finished my project adding Shamrocks…
And Coco was done with me (and the leprechaun)!
Has that even happened to you…a shape-shifting Leprechaun anxious to help?
Have a great St. Patrick’s Day weekend!
Tootles,
