Have you ever aspired to earn your mouse ears?
If you are a Southern California resident, it’s a very common aspiration.
Maybe you wonder what I mean by “Earning Your Mouse Ears”…
Disneyland of course! As you are reading this, Princess P, Princess Sweetie Pie and I are heading to the Happiest Place on Earth!
I know, I know…we are so lucky…I have heard it my whole life. I DO know how lucky we are, but each time we go, each time I get to bring my Princesses P, I feel luckier than all the times before.
As a child, Disneyland was extreme magic. As a preteen, teen and young adult the magic never died, it just changed. Never has it been more magical than experiencing it through the eyes of my own children.
My family, just like many across our country, has been affected by the economy; so a trip to Disneyland is indeed a major treat. But I have a confession…
My brother works for Disney. This means that he’s allowed to bring a certain number of guests with him for free when he visits the parks. This is a major score! There is not a chance we would be able to swing this right now without the complimentary admission.
While at the park, my Princess Sweetie Pie will be earning her mouse ears – as in she will be getting her very first mouse ears hat with her name embroidered on the back. It’s a milestone, in a way, for our Disney-loving family.
Princess P got her mouse ears a couple of years ago when she was about two and a half years old. At that time, Princess Sweetie Pie was only six weeks old and although she was having her first visit, her little head was too small for mouse ears. She has since had several trips to The Magic Kingdom, but we decided mouse ears were to wait until she was old enough to really “get it”.
Well, Princess Sweetie Pie has aspired to earn her mouse ears for long enough. Today is her day! She will get her ears and we will have a magical day!
Please check back tomorrow, I will be sharing memories and hopefully some tips on how to do Disneyland on a budget, even if you can’t get in on your brother’s coattails!
Tootles!

Glad the girls were feeling better and you all made it. I only wish it weren’t so busy this time.

It was really fun! Can’t wait to do it again during an “off” time!
I’m jealous. I wish we were all there with you. Have a great time! Think of me when you’re on Small World, it’s my favorite ride.
Love you all.
P.S. I’ve decided to take a few minutes and hand write out some note cards to a few youngsters that might get a “kick” out of getting mail.
Thought of you on Small World and smiled. Hopefully one of these days we can plan a trip together, the kids would have so much fun! I’m glad you were inspired to hand write some notes, I’m looking forward to my first pen pal mail that is on its way!
Awesome! We love Disney too! Our baby boy loves looking at all of the pretty ladies and waving Hi. Eager to learn of some thrifty advice. Enjoy!
We had a good time! Would love to meet your baby boy sometime…it’s been too long!
