I’ve been crafty recently.
I’m not one to typically use my time for crafting, unless it’s coloring with my Princesses P, but since my Grandpa passed away a couple of weeks ago I’ve had the strong pull to create.
Maybe I am dealing with my grief through creativity and creation. I like to think that this is his gift to me since he was such a talented and artistic man. I spent a lot of my childhood watching him create and sometimes I even got to join him. You can read more about my amazing Grandfather in earlier posts. Here are a few: Dance Me to the End of Love , Requiem for my Father and Remembering Grandpa.
The good news is that my house is now decorated for Valentine’s Day with things such as this super cute DIY Valentine Plaque!
DIY Heart Plaque Tutorial:
Supplies Needed:
- Brush On Tacky Glue (or tacky glue and a paint brush)
- white paper
- heart-shaped buttons
- round wood plaque
- pink acrylic paint
- Krylon Glitter Blast Spray
Step 1: On a plain white sheet of paper, brush tacky glue in the shape of a heart.
Step 2: Place your heart-shaped buttons on the glue. I had a little helper…Princess Sweetie Pie. Aren’t those cute little fingers?
Let the button creation dry for several hours.
Step 3: Paint your round wood plaque with acrylic paint and let it dry.
I got this plaque in the craft isle at Walmart for only 99 cents!
***Confession: I forgot to take a picture of this step…oops! And the next two steps! I must have been distracted by my Princesses P.
Step 4: When your button creation is completely dry, cut around the buttons.
Step 5: Glue button heart onto your dry painted wood plaque. Let dry for several hours.
Step 6: Spray with Glitter Blast to give it that sparkly wow factor!
Ta-da!! Hope you can have some fun creating this like I did. It looks very cute displayed in our living room!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment! We are happy you are enjoying the site.
That plaque is adorable! I can tell you are enjoying your newfound craftiness. I seem to skip taking photos for steps too, but my trick is to always make 2. Then I can take the missing photo the second time around.
Good idea Elizabeth! On this one I only had the supplies for one plaque but I think I see other plaques in my near future!
I love the Valentine’s Day ideas!!! Especially the plaque. How cute would that be for a Vday party at school???!!!!
Thanks so much Cakegirl! I love the plaque so much, I might have to make another one as a gift for my daughters kindergarten teacher now that you mentioned the school party! By the way, my family loves Creme Brulee too, I will have to try your recipe!
