DIY Facial Mask with Oatmeal, Banana & Honey

DIY Oatmeal Banana Honey Facial Mask cover

I don’t usually take much time to pamper myself.  I suppose that’s part of being a mom, taking care of others first.

Well, I think those days are done; this mommy is starting to do more for herself!   You  have to take care of yourself to be able to be your best and take care of others, so I’ve been told.

I have dabbled in “me time” the past week or so.  This has included taking on a 60 Day Challenge with The Dailey Method (future posts on the challenge coming soon) and this wonderful DIY Facial Mask with Oatmeal, Banana & Honey .

The DIY Facial Mask with Oatmeal, Banana & Honey was an unplanned, yet very fun and pleasant surprise.

On Friday, my good friend, Holly and her kids came over.  We had no big plans, just hanging out and talking while the kids played.  Holly randomly says “We should do masks, want to do masks?”  Sure!  I have never done a natural DIY mask, only masks that you buy in the store.  I was excited and unsure at the same time.

DIY Facial Mask with Oatmeal, Banana & Honey:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oatmeal, blended into a fine texture
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 banana

Instructions:

Blend dry oatmeal in a food processor.  Mash up half of a banana.  Add oatmeal, honey  and one egg white to the mashed banana.  Mix together until a thick paste forms. Spread all over cleansed face.  Keep the mask on for about 20 minutes.  Rinse face with warm water over the KITCHEN sink (I learned the hard way that if you do this over the bathroom sink you will have a clogged drain!).

Enjoy the feel of your soft and glowing skin!

I will be doing this once a week!  The DIY Facial Mask with Oatmeal, Banana & Honey  was so soothing and refreshing!  Bonus:  I had all the ingredients at home, so I didn’t even have to spend money to feel great!

Do you have any DIY beauty secrets?  I would love to hear some more great ideas in the comments!
