Cryptically Easy Chocolate Milk with Halloween Oreo Cookie Straws

Cryptically Easy Chocolate Milk with Halloween Oreo Cookie Straws cover

Cryptically Easy Chocolate Milk with Halloween Oreo Cookie Straws are not your typically “milk and cookies” afternoon treat.  And yet they are.  Chocolate milk and straws flagged with Halloween Oreo Cookies – what kid (or adult, you know, bigger kids) wouldn’t like to take a minute and make this easy project for the Halloween season?  A simple snack, these can be made ahead of time and served as an easy beverage at a children’s Halloween party, too.

At the grocery store, I found these adorable Halloween Oreo cookies.  I bought them because, after all, who doesn’t like Oreos?  All that great fluffy stuff in the center and the crispy chocolate cookie…

Here’s what I did:

Halloween Oreo Cookies - Cryptically Easy Chocolate Milk

There are five different Halloween designs in the Halloween Oreo Cookie package.  In addition to the “Trick or Treat” cookie, there’s a bat, a jack-o-lantern, a haunted house and a skull.

Halloween Oreos

Here they are close up…

And here they are stacked so you can see the orange center of creamy stuff…

I carefully twisted them apart.  Then, with a very small spoon (an appetizer spoon), I used the back handle of the spoon and made a channel down the center of the Oreo’s stuff and smeared the empty side of the cookie with the stuff from the handle (this becomes the “glue”).

Then I placed a Halloween straw between the channel, leaving about one inch sticking out of the top of the cookie.

Then I placed the other side of the cookie over the cookie with the straw and pressed gently to glue them back together.  And, I placed one in my glass to make sure it was the proper height for this project.

I filled the glass with chocolate milk…

Then added a dollop of Cool Whip.

Then I made a bunch more!  Plus, I decorated the table for the photoshoot…

Raven with milk and cookies

Here’s a close-up of my cock-eyed raven.  I call him that because it was a challenge to get him to balance on top of the black sequined pumpkin.  All was well until I put the “Forget the Ghosts; Beware of Me” sign around his neck and then, sure as shootin’, he toppled over!

Fortunately for me, I was smart enough (this time) to set him up and work on him BEFORE I added the glasses of Cryptically Easy Chocolate Milk with Halloween Oreo Cookie Straws to the table.  I surely avoided a terrible disaster by thinking this through {grin}.  Can you just envision chocolate milk dripping down the table all over the floor and the rug?

Anyway, here’s another picture…

just because I thought this post should have 13 photos of Cryptically Easy Chocolate Milk with Halloween Oreo Cookie Straws!
