On a bright, beautiful sunny Southern California day
Princesses went to the pumpkin patch to play.
Running to and fro’, here and there,
So much to do at the pumpkin patch and nary a care.
So many pumpkins! How do we choose?
Orange ones, white ones, pink and even blue!
“I know, let’s test them and see which one is best”
Princess Sweetie Pie enthusiastically professed.
Backwards and forwards on hands and knees
Princess Sweetie Pie did as she pleased.
Finally settled sitting pretty on her pumpkin throne
This Pumpkin Princess was not to be overthrown!
Princess P walked right up and plopped right down
On a giant pumpkin because she’s not much of a clown!
“It’s so hot! Let’s find some shade and cool our jets,
Under that big shady tree is a sure bet!
We can sit on those pumpkins, they’re called Big Macs;
We’ll rest a bit, catch our breath and maybe have a snack!”
Said Auntie Samantha, “Princesses, what should we do at the pumpkin patch today?”
“Your mommy gave you money to burn on this very hot day!”
“We could go for a tractor hayride, tour the straw maze, pick more pumpkins or pet the goats…
What, sweet princesses, do you want to do; what gets your vote?”
“We went for a tractor hayride and did the straw maze
on our first visit to the pumpkin patch, on an earlier day!”
“Um,” thought Samantha, “what can we do to make this day unique?
I know, we can paint our face, neck and cheeks!”
Suddenly off in the distance, past the pumpkins, beyond the corn fields she spied
Grand horse-drawn carriages and wagons trotting by!
“Wow, look my sweet Princesses P;
beautiful horses beyond our shade tree!”
Clip-clopping past at a steady even pace
These massive draft horses weren’t having a race.
While happy to do their job on this warm autumn day
They really wanted a break, some cold water and fresh hay!
Rounding a corner they picked up speed
“Whoa, Nellie, Nadine – take heed!”
With her face painted, Princess P is ready for her ride
With Princess Sweetie Pie, Samantha and Jade alongside
Waiting for other guests to board the wagon for a full load
The Princesses P, Samantha and Jade were ready to get this show on the road!
Gigi, Aunt Carole and Uncle Charlie stayed behind
A wagon ride in the hot sun wasn’t what they had in mind!
“Bye, Uncle Charlie, tootles, farewell”
Princess Sweetie Pie brandished the princess wave so well!
Settled in their seats, ready for their ride
The Princesses P sat side-by-side.
Such a beauty, so serious with hair blowing in the breeze
The hearts melting of her elder devotees
Princess P’s smile says it all
A horse-drawn wagon ride was just the right call.
Tootles,
