“Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen.” – Author Unknown
In a time of haste, there always seems to be something to take me by surprise. Sometimes these surprises are welcome and enjoyable and of course, sometimes I am caught off guard by something that knocks me off my feet.
As you all know from Carole’s beautiful post on Monday and her most recent post last night, I just celebrated a birthday and now we are all holding our breath for good news that Grammy Jo is going to be fine, and her dreams of living to be 100 are one day closer to reality.
It’s always amazed me how my Grandma has always believed. She believes in love, life and smiles. She is always positive with a beautiful smile on her face, and if that smile fades, that’s when we know something is wrong. Yesterday we were really scared. Terrified might be a better word, she is so sick. Carole, my mom Gail, Dawn, Glenn, Grandpa and myself have come together to be by her side, with smiles and support to help her find the strength to get closer to her insistence of living to 100 years of age. While this may sound “normal” for a family, Dawn has traveled from Arizona and Glenn from New York at the drop of a hat, no hesitation. The rest of us are local, but also dropping everything to be with her.
Something magical happens when we all come together…the power of love and the belief of family pulls us all through. We are so blessed to be so bonded in such a “toot-sweet” world.
The doctors had us thinking (not sure if preparing is possible) of the worst as they got ready to move Grammy to ICU. By the time we arrived, Carole had brought Grandpa to see her. When I walked in, there was the smile and the light in her eyes that even the turmoil she had been through couldn’t stop. She told me…“It was Chuck’s smile, it’s love that’s made me better.” And with that I will always believe that something wonderful is about to happen.
