Here we are – the last day of 2014. Tomorrow marks the beginning of another year full of promise. After all, isn’t that what a New Year’s Day celebration is all about – the promise?
“The promise of what?” you ask. Well, the promise is whatever you want it to be, make it to be, hope it to be. Yes, you are in control. You just have to take that control and run with your dreams.
Like the funky rooster on my Christmas tree, life is a riot of color with glitter and sparkles, interspersed with moments that droop our tail feathers and make our eyes turn down in sadness. But, like Elsa in Frozen, we let it go – here I stand and here I stay…here I stand, in the light of day…the cold never bothered me anyway…
This blog is my dream. My dream of writing and sharing what I write with others. And, while blogging is my passion, it is also hard work. But, when you are passionate about what you do, it doesn’t matter that it is hard work – because you love it and there is nothing you’d rather be doing (well, maybe on second thought, taking naps might be something I’d rather be doing on cold winter days!).
I love sharing creative content from other bloggers. I love that they love what they do and bloggers, intrinsically, are over-sharers. But, that’s want readers what these days, a dose of reality with their morning coffee or their after dinner drink.
This round-up of 6 Awesome Things I’m Sweet On in December 2014, this last one for this year, is short and sweet and full of surprises:
Lindsey at Pinch of Yum shared The Failed Recipes of 2014. Yes, food bloggers make terrible food, too. How lovely that she admits it and shares it! I’ve shared many of my own on this blog. If you want to read them, just search “experiments gone awry” in the search bar. I’ve never thought to do it as a “round-up post” like Lindsay has. A good way to end the year – get the bad karma off your chest and out the window!
Tiegan, the 21-year-young blogger over at Half Baked Harvest made her first alcoholic drink the other day and it looks delicious! Who wouldn’t want to have a Chocolate Truffle Martini with Dulce de Leche Rum Butter Truffles on New Year’s Eve?
And, speaking of booze, the team over at A Beautiful Mess has a round-up of 15 Cocktails to Ring in the New Year. Love that Golden Girl Cocktail – reminds me of the party cups my niece, Nicole, made for her baby’s first birthday party (more on that in 2015 – stay tuned!).
Ali over at Gimme Some Oven shares here neighbor’s, Cynthia’s, 10 Things I’ve Learned – good lessons for all of us.
I love Rosie’s Purple Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and her Gilded Reindeer and Santa Cookies. Her blog, Sweetapolita, is a feast for the eyes.
Amy at She Wears Many Hats created a beautiful Holiday Pavlova Wreath Recipe. The last time I had Pavlova was when my friend, Vanessa, who lives in Australia visited in July 2013 and made one for us. You can check out her creation here: Barefoot with Friends and Vanessa’s Pavlova. What a special dessert any time of year!
Well, that’s it for this edition of “Awesome Things I’m Sweet On” and that’s it for this year! I know it’s a bit skimpy, but it is New Year’s Eve after all and I need to let it go and go join the party!
Happy New Year!
