42 Things in Your Guest Bedroom Bathroom is such a wonky title! But, I wanted to delineate this particular bathroom from other bathrooms you may have in your home. In other words, are you lucky enough to have a guest bedroom that has a separate private bath attached to it just for guests? If so, chances are that bathroom has specific things in it just for guests and doesn’t include things such as your personal medications!
We are lucky enough to have such a room. And, even better, it is located at the opposite end of our house, away from our master bedroom, giving our guests complete privacy. Since we don’t have children, I wanted to create a room that would make our guests feel welcomed so that they will come back again and again.
But, I must confess: it isn’t perfect! I’ve loaded up the drawers in the guest bedroom with stuff and even have stuff in the guest closet! So, it’s not exactly like a hotel room, with an empty closet and drawers, but my goal is to one day downsize some of that clutter and make that room even nicer!
I’ve been pretty good about that guest bedroom’s bathroom, in that I truly don’t have any personal stuff in that bathroom. Everything in that bathroom I’m chosen for the benefit of our guests. So, at least when they are staying with us, they have plenty of room to scatter their personal articles and toiletries all over and not worry about moving my personal stuff around to make room for their personal stuff!
If you are a new reader to this blog, and this is the first list of 42 that you’ve stumbled upon, welcome! If you are a regular reader, welcome back! We are getting close to finishing our whole house inventory. We will definitely be done with it by the end of this year!
For new readers, Charlie and I lost our home in a wildfire in 2007. I’ve written a 20-post series about our loss and rebuild and you can read it by starting with this post: Any Way the Wind Blows. We were not prepared for this loss, at all. We have rebuilt a new home and have now lived in that new home 5 years.
During the claims process with our insurance company, we had to provide them with a whole-house inventory, complete down to the last toothpick. This process took me 9 months of working nights and weekends to get it ready to submit to our insurance company. It was a stressful process and I thank my lucky stars, every day, for the internet! I can’t imagine trying to do a whole-house inventory from memory without the internet and the ability to search sites to find items similar to what you had.
A year and a half ago, it occurred to me that I didn’t have an inventory on our new house! Duh! So, I decided to start working on one and then decided why not share it on the blog? Others may find this useful in some fashion or another. Maybe you just want to have a whole-house inventory so that you can talk to your insurance agent and make sure you are adequately covered. Or, maybe you or someone you know has had a loss. These lists of 42 will help you get started!
