It’s several days past St. Patrick’s Day! So, you know what that means? It’s time to pack up the 42 St. Patrick’s Day Decorations in Your Home and start planning for Easter and Spring!
This checklist is part of an ongoing series about emergency planning and preparedness. I’m doing a whole house inventory for myself and decided to share it with readers. Why? Because we lost our home in the 2007 Southern California wildfire known as the Witch Fire and it took me 9 months to do my household inventory for our personal property insurance claim.
I had to do this whole house inventory from memory because guess what? I didn’t have one done prior to the fire. I’m sure that’s true of most people, but in our case, we didn’t even have any photographs or a video of our household belongings. And, even if we did, chances are we wouldn’t have remembered to take the photos or videos with us when we evacuated.
So, while I’m not anticipating that we will lose our house again (however, I do know someone who HAS lost their house twice to fire!), I am trying to be proactive and be better prepared for future emergencies. In addition, these lists will be out in the world-wide web for anyone who has suffered a similar catastrophic loss and needs help with preparing a household inventory for their own use.
FYI – on the 22nd of each month, I’m posting about emergency planning to help readers who want to move forward in their emergency planning efforts. Emergency planning is an arduous task and I’m breaking it down into baby steps so that each month participants can mark something off their emergency planning checklist. If you aren’t yet following this series, here’s your chance to get caught up:
At the end of this post, I share a FREE printable of this list to add to your household inventory binder! So, back to discussing the 42 St. Patrick’s Day Decorations in Your Home…
Here are a few photos of my recent decorating efforts:
Take a look at the photo above. This is a compilation of some of my St. Patrick’s Day decorations. Let’s break down what is in each of the photos above:
- Leprechaun pick, shamrock plant, Happy St. Patrick’s Day pick (4 things just for the plant!); on the table and behind the plant: faux golden leprechaun coins, decorative foam shamrocks of various sizes, green candle – a total of 7 different St. Patrick’s Day decorations in photo #1!
- Plastic Irish Princess crown (costume)
- 2 different kinds of shamrock picks plus a leprechaun pick inside a faux flower basket
- Leprechaun Christmas ornament
- A shamrock-shaped green ceramic bowl (specialty serveware) filled with St. Patrick’s Day buttermints (specialty food product) on top of a table with decorative foam shamrocks and golden coins
- Collection of adorable ceramic leprechauns
- Paper St. Patrick’s Day napkins (what you can’t see in this photo is that there are 2 different sets of napkins on top of 2 different sets of paper plates: cocktail napkins on top of lunch napkins on top of cocktail plates on top of luncheon plates)
So, just in the photo collage above, there are a total of 16 different St. Patrick’s Day decorations!
In this photo collage:
-
Leprechaun Cake Ball Truffles inside of cute mini cupcake papers on top of a tiered server with St. Patrick’s Day ribbon. Sorry, I don’t have a cake ball truffle recipe for you on this blog! I’ve made them three different times now and you can see pictures of the two other attempts here: The Magic of Fairy Days and Toot Sweet 4 Two Turns One: Blog-o-versary Party Recap. I’m not yet satisfied with the recipe, so not yet ready to share! But, I’ll keep trying {grin}!
-
Tablescape with lots of St. Patrick’s Day stuff!
-
Close-up of place setting: placemat, paper napkins, plastic flatware, green charger, ceramic shamrock plate, rainbow lollipop, decorative topiary (actually a place card holder), little black plastic pot (to be filled with Lucky Charms), green plastic drinking cup with shamrock straw, green glass wine/water-glass – 11 specialty St. Patrick’s decoration just on one place setting!
-
Spinach tortillas shamrocks cut from a shamrock cookie cutter (don’t go looking around for this recipe, either! I burned the shamrock tortillas, so didn’t make this recipe for the blog!)
You can see just from these two photo collages that it’s possible to rack up lots of decorative knickknacks, trinkets, curiosities (as the Victorians called them) for your holiday decorations! In addition to what I’m sharing in photos in this post, I have cute little St. Patrick’s Day signs, garland, decorative ribbons, ceramic shamrock-shaped serving dishes, cloth napkins, craft kits, baskets, a shamrock baking pan, lots of different cupcake papers and sprinkles, leftover green candy melts, leftover rainbow lollipops, 2 St. Patrick’s Day cookbooks, one Irish cookbook, multiple books about Ireland and green storage tubs to store these treasures when not in use!
Here’s a close-up of one of my 3 adorable leprechauns! Just wanted to share because their cute smiling faces are so happy! Behind him is a decorative pot o’ gold weeping willow tree in a black pot. And, he’s standing on top of a moss “runner” plus has a little fairy garden bench behind him. You can see more of my tabletop decorations here: Decorating the Table for a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration and The Post-St. Patrick’s Day Post.
