Here’s a serendipitous happenstance for you – I heard on the news this morning that February is “Museum Month” in San Diego County and Macy’s Department Stores are distributing passes for 50% off and that 42 Museums were participating! Imagine that – 42 San Diego Museums, 28 days and Half Off!
Per my earlier posts, 42 San Diego Restaurants to Savor and 42 Things to do in San Diego, Tiffany and I are working on “branding” our Toot Sweet 4 Two business, so one idea of ours is to create lists of 42 for the “4 Two” part of our name. So, it must be a “sign” from the universe and I just had to post this list today so that all of our readers have an opportunity to take advantage of this great opportunity! Since there are only 28 days in the month of February and today is the 4th, this special offer is only good for another 23 days (not counting today, since this day is almost over), so let’s go museum hopping and support our local businesses!
Here’s a link to the San Diego Museum Council’s website with all the details. Per this website, “Museum Month Passes may be picked up beginning February 1, 2013 at any of Macy’s fourteen locations in the San Diego Area, Temecula and Imperial Valley. The passes are free to obtain while supplies last. With a pass, up to four visitors can gain admission to any of the 42 participating museums for half-price. Plus, you can use the pass all month long!”
Here’s a list of the participating museums:
- Barona Cultural Center & Museum
- Birch Aquarium at Scripps
- Bonita Museum & Cultural Center
- California Surf Museum

The list is so eclectic – there’s something on this list for everyone! I know I haven’t been to at least 80% of the museums on this list and I’ve lived in San Diego for 35+ years! In honor of my father, who passed away on January 19th after a long battle with congestive heart failure, I think I’ll try to get to as many of the Art Museums as I can this month – I counted 8 on this list and the only one I’ve been to is the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla and I know it’s been at least 20 years since I’ve been there!
Have any of you been to any of these museums? Tell us about your experiences…
