42 Party Supplies for Your Next Party

Party supplies are a necessary component of any party.  Without the basic party supplies like plates, cups, eating utensils, and food, you’ll be running around your home searching for things for your guests to eat and eat off of.

Are you in the midst of planning your next party? This list of 42 Party Supplies for Your Next Party is meant to help you remember the important components needed, whether you own, borrow, purchase, or rent items, to make your party perfect and the best ever!

Whether you are planning a holiday party, Super Bowl party, birthday party, Halloween party, or retirement party – whatever upcoming event you have swirling around in your head – a party has many “moving parts”!  So starting from scratch, use this list to decide what kind of party supplies you’ll need whether your next party is in your home, your backyard, at a neighborhood park, or at a rental venue.

This list of 42 Party Supplies for Your Next Party can be used in conjunction with this list of 42 Things to do When Planning Your Next Party.   In addition, you could add this list to your household inventory binder as a reminder of what you may have on hand at any given moment, for example, leftover party-specific paper plates and napkins.  And, if you’ve suffered a catastrophic loss such as a fire, this list can be used to help create your home inventory list for your homeowner’s insurance claim.

Wait???  What??  I’ve lost you…

We lost our home in October 2007, to a wildfire and we were in the midst of planning a Halloween party for the next weekend.  We’d already decorated the house plus purchased specific paper plates, napkins, drinkware, party favors, etc.  My Halloween party had a “bat” theme and while I may have had other paper plates and napkins left over from other parties in our house, I also had brand new paper products and decorations purchased for this specific party.  A list like this would have helped me remember, with more detail, what we lost when preparing the paperwork needed for our homeowner’s insurance claim!

If you are a new visitor to this blog, welcome!  I create lists of 42 for household inventory purposes.  If took me 9 months of working nights and weekends to compile our list of personal belongings to submit to our insurance company.  Once we rebuilt our home and moved in, it occurred to me one blustery, Santa Ana day that I should be proactive rather than reactive and create a new home inventory list on our new contents.  After all, we didn’t have much stuff when we first moved back home and I thought it would be easy.

And after launching this blog a few months later, I thought I’d share my lists on this blog just in case others who have suffered a catastrophic loss could benefit from them.  So, after several years of working on this project, there are now 55 lists of 42 things related to household inventory and this list of 42 Party Supplies for Your Next Party is one of those 55.

Why include such a list like this in your household inventory for an insurance claim?  Well, every insurance company is different, so you will need to ask yours, but our insurance company wanted a list done on Excel listing “everything down to the last toothpick.”  This list needed to include a column to describe the items, another column to include the year purchased, a third column listing the purchase price, and yet another column listing the replacement cost of that item.  I’m sure you understand how labor-intensive such a list could be.  Ours was 165 Excel pages long!

After creating 55 lists, I have some exciting news to share – I’ve taken all my 55 lists of 42, added 20 more, and wrapped them all up together in an eBook called The Complete Book of Lists:  Room-by-Room Checklists for Your Household Inventory Project!  You can purchase it for $9.99 through the link (it takes you to another section of this blog).  If you are in the midst of creating your own home inventory project, this eBook is a great tool to help you see your project through to completion.

Your list of 42 things to have at a party is incredibly thorough. The last few points about food in particular are very important to remember, as drinking on an empty stomach can cause problems that could ruin any party. Point 41 is also critical, because although it will not be needed nine times out of ten, a first aid kit ensures that you will be prepared for whatever happens. With this extensive list of party supplies, I think you would through a very classy yet fun party.
