I’m a bit of a “prepper.” Not a full-blown prepper, but enough of one to have the 42 Pantry Foods to Stock for Emergencies handled. Why? Because we lost our home in a wildfire in 2007 and we were not prepared. At all.
Now we are living through a pandemic, and I’m grateful for that. I’m grateful for the “living” part, not the “pandemic” part. And, while I was writing A Rookie’s Guide to Grocery Shopping During a Pandemic, we were hit with a 4.9 earthquake. A few days earlier, a 6.5 earthquake hit Idaho.
[convertkit form=5278487]So, I ask you…
Do you have these things in place?
Emergency Food Supply: are you Ready?
Family Emergency Kit: are you Ready?
Emergency Contact Sheet: are you Ready?
Throughout my years as a blogger, I’ve written many emergency posts from a wildfire perspective. However, many of my posts apply to all kinds of emergencies. If you are following the guidelines of a stay-at-home directive, this might be the perfect time to tackle some of these emergency preparation projects that we all save for another day.
Don’t be caught unprepared during the next emergency, whether personal, local, state, national, or global. Use this robust list of pantry foods as a guide to create a supply of shelf-stable foods for emergencies. While it may not be practical to stock all of these items because of space constraints, choose a few from each category to stock in your home. You should strive to have a two-week supply of food for each member of your household to include pantry, refrigerator, and freezer food.
Two Notes about this list of Pantry Foods
One – please note that many of these pantry foods to stock for emergencies are linked to Amazon for your convenience. However, in many cases, Amazon has listed them as “out of stock” or “currently unavailable.” We are keeping the links in this post because, eventually, these items will be available again and this post will be an easy reference.
Two – this is a robust list. I’m not advocating that your pantry include each one of these items, but instead am providing readers with “food for thought” as you round out your pantry items.
