I’ve come up with 42 unique gifts for dad to help you out!

[Updated June 10, 2020] Is your dad tough to buy things for? Is he picky as can be? Does he already have everything? I know what you’re feeling! Father’s Day can be a tough holiday to buy gifts for, that’s why I’ve come up with 42 unique gifts for dad to help get the wheels turning!

  1. Gift certificate: yep, I know – too easy and too obvious! But, when all else fails and you’ve just been too busy and now you are out of time, run into the grocery store and take your pick! Restaurants, theater, music, coffee shop, fast food, telephone cards, Disneyland, sporting goods stores, home improvement stores – the list of choices is tremendous! Plus, you can pick up a Father’s Day card to boot AND you could buy his favorite candy, cookies, coffee – one-stop shopping all at the grocery store! Woot-woot! {grin}
  2. First Aid Kit: this one is near and dear to my heart because I’m all about “emergency preparedness”! Need help with this idea? Check out my post, What’s in Your First Aid Kit?
  3. Emergency Road Assistance Kit: in other words, a kit for your car! It’s that “emergency preparedness” thing again! But, if your father doesn’t already have one in the trunk of his car, now’s the time to fix that oversight!
  4. A back-up generator (okay, okay – enough about emergency planning)
  5. Camping gear, outdoor equipment, backpacking gear: does your dad have a sleeping bag or tent? If not, buy him one or both even if he isn’t a camper or an outdoor guy! Tell him you’re getting him started on his emergency planning and preparedness project and print this list to get him started – Emergency Planning Checklist.
  6. Fishing, boating gear, and marine accessories
  7. RV accessories for the RV sitting in his driveway
  8. Tools: power tools, garage and shop tools, diagnostic and test tools, engine tools, hand tools, tire & wheel tools – who knew there were so many types of tools? {grin}
  9. Garage equipment other than tools
  10. Automotive accessories, car stereo, GPS, car care kit
  11. Motorcycle accessories, helmet, jacket
  12. Team sports equipment: football, baseball, soccer, etc.
  13. Sports collectibles
  14. Fan gear, i.e., a baseball cap with his favorite sports team emblazoned on it or t-shirt for his favorite team
  15. Golf equipment
  16. Cycling gear
  17. Home inventory checklists: not super exciting, but very practical!
  18. Snowsports equipment
  19. Workout and fitness gear and accessories (FitBit, anyone?)
  20. Lawn and garden tools and accessories, outdoor decor
  21. Grilling equipment, tools, and accessories
  22. A fire pit – they come in all shapes and sizes and what a nice gift, if your father likes spending time in his backyard!
  23. How about backyard games for his backyard? Like a volleyball net or horseshoes?
  24. Does your dad like to cook? Mine did. A perfect gift for him (he’s no longer with us) would have been a new coffeemaker and some specialty coffee or an indoor grill or sandwich maker.
  25. A bottle of wine and/or wine accessories
  26. Or, a case of beer (craft beer, but something more unique! Make it special, for heaven’s sake!) {grin}. Or a moonshine making kit {grin}.
  27. Does your father like to read? Get books by his favorite author(s) or start him on a new author. Is he still reading hardbacks? Buy him a Kindle or Nook.
  28. Tablet, laptop, software, tablet/laptop accessories
  29. Smartphone and/or accessories
  30. Headphones, speakers, home theater, TV
  31. Video games, DVDs
  32. Musical equipment and accessories
  33. Something for his man cave
  34. Camera, camera equipment and accessories
  35. Watch and jewelry
  36. Athletic clothing, outdoor clothing, t-shirts, dress shirts, jackets
  37. Clean his house!
  38. Personalized gifts, i.e., something with his name engraved on it, such as a clock, money clip, cuff links
  39. Luggage, backpack, travel accessories
  40. One of those gift-of-the-month clubs, you know – wine, cheese, cookies, flowers, etc.
  41. Take him out to dinner
  42. And, of course, you could always get him a tie! The infamous tie!
