Spurtle? Is a spurtle on this list of 42 Even More Kitchen Gadgets? Yep. It sure is!
How many of you know what a spurtle is? Well, I didn’t know what a spurtle is until I was gifted the one above by a sweet friend! Yes, dear readers, my friend, Becky, brought me a spurtle all the way from Scotland! The Scottish people use spurtles to stir porridge! With autumn underway, it’s time for me to make my yummy oatmeal for breakfast and try this classically beautiful wooden instrument!
42 Even More Kitchen Gadgets is the 13th installment of this never-ending list of household items for inventory purposes. If you’ve missed the first 12, links are provided below at the end of this post. Also at the end of this post, is a FREE printable of this list for you. Print this list out and add it to your household inventory binder. Then, print out my Emergency Planning Checklist, too, and you have started the beginning of your family’s personal preparedness planning for emergencies!
This being the 13th installment and all on this project, I thought I should point out I started in the kitchen with 42 Kitchen Basics for Your New Home and 12 more installments later, we are still in the kitchen! Whew! Who knew there were so many things in one’s kitchen? Why did I call the first installment 42 Kitchen Basics for Your New Home? Well, I launched the series in June, the month of weddings and graduations, so I thought a list of basics was a good way to get started.
But, the real reason, the bigger reason is that my husband and I lost our home to wildfire in 2007 and we had to start over. So, where do you start when you have to start over? You start with the basics. Any way, for those of you who are interested in reading our “fire” story, you can start here: Any Way the Wind Blows.
