42 Easter Decorations for Your Home

42 Easter Decorations for Your Home Pinterest

Easter is this Sunday, so first of all, Happy Easter!  42 Easter Decorations for Your Home is part of a continuing series of lists of 42 for household inventory purposes.  I’m working on my personal household inventory and thought I’d share with readers, if they, too, want help in creating their own list.

Why?  We lost our home in the 2007 Southern California wildfire known as the Witch Fire.  The link above will take you to the 20-part series I wrote in 2012 about the fire, our loss and rebuild.  It took me 9 months to compile our list of household inventory for our personal property insurance claim.  While I used the internet frequently during the creation of our list, I never came across anything as comprehensive as what I’m creating that could have helped me complete that extremely arduous task.  So, my hope is that by sharing my journey on the web, these lists will be available to anyone needing help after suffering a catastrophic loss.

In addition, I’m working on my own personal emergency preparedness plan this year and am posting that once a month.  Readers can follow along here:

So, how are your Easter plans shaping up?  Here’s a cute bunny to brighten your day:

I got these adorable bunnies a couple of years ago at World Market.  And, I love to get them out of their storage container this time of year and display them.  You can see the rest of the collection by reading my earlier post, Decorating the Table for an Easter Celebration.  But, here’s a sneak peek:

I think I have at least 42 Easter decorations on my dining room table alone {grin}!  How many things can you count?  In the above picture, I see:

  1. straw bunnies
  2. porcelain bunnies
  3. chenille bunnies
  4. chenille chicks
  5. Easter egg trees
  6. treat bags with specialty candy
  7. Easter basket
  8. glitter butterflies
  9. plastic Easter eggs
  10. Easter grass
  11. birdhouses
  12. tablecloth and placemats used as chargers
  13. dinner plates
  14. napkins
  15. salad/dessert plates
  16. goblets
  17. flatware
  18. plants in pots with moss

Just in that photo!  Anyway, my point is that we acquire so much in the way of small little things to celebrate holidays that it’s easy to forget what you have.  And, I may not have mentioned it before, but in a claims situation, it’s the small things that add up to significant dollars; dollars left on the table if you don’t remember what you had or don’t have photos or a video of our household belongings!

In our specific insurance situation, with our specific insurance company, we had to list every little thing – down to the last toothpick – or we didn’t get paid for it!  And, yes, I listed toothpicks on our insurance claim!

Here’s the list of 42 Easter Decorations for Your Home:
