How do you know if your kitchen is well-stocked or not with the right cookware and kitchen essentials? Probably when you need a particular pot or casserole dish to create a certain recipe and realize you don’t have it! It’s happened to me – numerous times! So, I’ve created various lists of kitchen items to stock my kitchen with essential cookware and 42 Cooking Essentials for a Well-stocked Kitchen is one of 10 different lists of kitchen supplies in this series.
You are probably now thinking “silly girl, don’t you know what cookware you have in your kitchen?” Well, yes and no. The “yes” is because I probably had said cookware at some point in my recent past. And, the “no” is because we lost it in the 2007 San Diego wildfires and I thought I’d replaced it but didn’t!
Are you interested in reading about the fire and our rebuild? Just check out my earlier posts about the loss of our home in the fire starting with Any Way the Wind Blows.
By now you probably think I’m totally crazy! But, just read The Leprechaun Cake Wreck Caper to see how bonkers I really am! In that post, I thought I had a certain pan and couldn’t find it anywhere. Then it dawned on me that we probably lost it in the fire. But, the truth of the matter is that I did, indeed, replace it. But, I just misplaced it finding it months later in a place that it shouldn’t be! Tell me I’m not the only one that misplaces things?
Anyway, I need to do a whole house inventory for myself if for no other reason than to be prepared for emergencies! So, since I’m starting down this road anyway, I thought I’d share the checklists that I create for my own use with readers so that you, too, can…
- be better prepared for an emergency and/or
- stock your kitchen with cookware and other cooking essentials so that you don’t “wing it” at the last minute when making a recipe!
NOTE: This list does not repeat any of the items on my earlier list: 42 Kitchen Basics for Your New Home
Why a list of 42 and not 25 or 50? Well, that’s to help establish my “brand identity” by using the “4 Two” in my blog’s name, Toot Sweet 4 Two!
