42 Baking Essentials You Need to Complete Your Home Kitchen is the fourth post in a series of 42 items needed for a well-stocked kitchen. If someone you know is just getting their first place, or starting fresh, these list of 42 items will help them (and you) stay on track.
This comprehensive list of baking supplies and essential baking equipment for the home baker includes a FREE printable checklist (below). Use this as a reference to start your baking tools, baking utensils and kitchen baking equipment and supplies collection. Or, use this list as a checklist for your household inventory binder.
Household inventory binder?
Yes, a household inventory binder!
The background about the development of this series of posts is that Charlie and I lost our home in a wildfire. Known as the Witch Fire, this 2007 wildfire decimated huge areas of San Diego County. More than a 1,000,000 people were displaced over a 10 day period as residents moved throughout the county trying to escape multiple fires.
Over time, we have replaced most of what we lost, except, of course, for the irreplaceable items such as family heirlooms and photos. And, I’ve often found myself looking for something these last 5 years only to realize that we don’t have it!
To further my own personal peace of mind, I’ve created these lists for myself. I use them as checklists of what I already have and what I still need to get. And, since I’m doing this for myself, I decided to help all of you by sharing these lists with readers!
Why 42 and not 50? As I’ve explained in previous posts, I picked 42 to help “brand” the “4 Two” in our name, Toot Sweet 4 Two. If you have missed the other posts in this series, links are included at the bottom of this post!
NOTE:
None of these posts repeat items in their lists. These lists are meant to complement each other. They provide an on-going list of household goods, supplies, and materials so your emergency planning and preparedness checklists are in order. Even if they aren’t “in order,” you can refer back to these lists on our blog at any time and print them should you ever need them.
Doing a Personal Property Inventory for an insurance company claim after a loss is an exhaustive process. In my own situation, it took me nine months of working nights and weekends to prepare my list. Our insurance company sent us letters every 30 days to “remind” us that they needed our list! I hope never to go through that experience again, but if I do (we live in wildfire country), I’ll be better prepared. And, so will you! At the very minimum, these lists will provide you with a “starting point.”
