A few months ago, I started this series of Things I’m Sweet On in (insert month and year). It’s my way of sharing with my readers other awesome blogs that you’ve missed in the blog-o-sphere. After all, the blog-o-sphere is the Wild West of our time in the annuls of history and finding blogs (unless they are big stars – and a few on this list are), in our toot sweet lives, can be a nebulous thing around the web.
In no particular order (I just add them to the list as I run across them), here are the 19 Awesome Things I’m Sweet On in July 2014:
Sweet On #1 and #2
Okay, this sounds seriously crazy or seriously genius: Cool Whip, Snickers and apples and voila’ – an irresistible “salad”. Alison at Horseshoes and Hand Grenades has created a recipe she calls Snickers Salad that’s sure to become a classic. A girl after my own heart, she also posts periodically about emergency planning (she has an on-going Survival Series) and I love this idea about having heirloom seeds in your arsenal of emergency planning products: Long Term Survival with Ark Survival.
Sweet On #3
I love Everyday Trish’s June photo-a-day post – especially her photo of the fair that she’s titled Joy.
Sweet On #4
Over at Money Saving Mom, Crystal shared one of her reader’s success stories – Swagbucks Paid for Our Family Emergency Kits. How awesome it that! Again with the emergency planning thing!
Sweet On #5
Charlie and I celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary later this year. If we were going to do a bang-up celebratory party, I’d want it to look like this one over at The Tom Kat Studio – Happily Ever After – simply stunning!
Sweet On #6
During the months of July and August, I have an orange crush. That’s because the Mexican Bird of Paradise (photo above) blooming in my yard are in their full glory. When I saw this photography backdrop on my blog designer/friend’s (Tana), site, Your Marketing BFF, I had to share it with readers! So beautiful – A DIY Backdrop That Helps You Decorate Like a Pro!
Sweet On #7
My friend, Heather, at It’s a Lovely Life wrote a post title, 10 Ways to Avoid Online Drama. Great advise that translates to everyday life, too, not just online life.
Sweet On #8 and #9
I’m big fans of both Chelsea and her husband, Nate, over at Someday I’ll Learn. Check out a few of their recent posts: Getting It Back and Living with a Rock Star Isn’t Easy. They’ll make you laugh!
Sweet On #10
I don’t think it’s a stretch that readers know I’m a big fan of PicMonkey. I’ve written many tutorials about this online photo editing site. Imagine my surprise when I came across Sunu’s post (from her blog, Clothed in Scarlet) called 50+ PicMonkey Resources to Make Your Design Shine and find out she lists many of my tutorials and provides links back to them! Thanks, Sunu – so awesome!
Sweet On #11
An excellent reminder from Melissa at Blog Clarity that You Don’t Have to Do Everything the Experts Say. Melissa blogs about blogging and as all bloggers know, we sometimes lose site of the importance of living an “offline” life. Her lesson can be applied to any working person, online or offline.
Sweet On #12
I love that Karissa, over at Fresh Start on a Budget, is starting a no-spending moratorium for the month of August: August is no spend month, wish us luck! Any way each of us can come up with a way to save money is always a good idea! Remember my Saving Mr. Lincoln series I ran for 13 months? If not, check it out!
Sweet On #13
These Easy Party Treat Cup Ideas from Club Chica Circle are just adorable – and easy!
Sweet On #14
And this one, A response and an apology, from Heather of Dooce will break your heart, as she seeks redemption and makes us all aware of the fragility of life – any life.
Sweet On #15
Are you in love with caramel? I’m so.in.love with caramel! Maybe because I have to limit my chocolate intake (darn!) because it’s a migraine trigger for me. So, caramel is irresistible to me. Anyway, Julie (guest posting for Nikki) over at Chef in Training has done this round-up of caramel recipes, your one-stop-post for all things caramel: 95+ Caramel Recipes.
Sweet On #16
These Cilantro Lime Shrimp Tacos with Roasted Corn and Jalapeno Slaw and Roasted Jalapeno Creama from Kevin over at Closet Cooking look amazing! I thought I wrote the longest titles ever! You’ve go me beat, Kevin {grin}!
Sweet On #17
Did you see my Berrylicious Ice Box Cheesecake recipe? I’m so into this one: You Can Make This 10-Layer Ice Cream Cake in 5 Minutes from The Kitchn.
Sweet On #18
And this Blueberry Cake from Gimme Some Oven – OMG!
Sweet On #19
And Averie over at Averie Cooks knocks it out of the park in making us want to eat our green vegetables with Green Powerhouse Salad with Sesame-Ginger Vinaigrette. Seriously – gorgeous salad.
